Since the early 2000s, every automotive manufacturer has been talking about how they could revolutionize the whole automotive industry by producing electric cars and make it mainstream. However, not many steps were taken in this direction as this idea required quite a lot of funds for research and development (R&D) purposes. The whole idea was based upon the functioning of hybrid vehicles i.e. vehicles that run on both, fuel and electricity.
The first major mass-produced hybrid vehicle that entered the automotive market was Toyota Prius in 1997. The vehicle entered the mainstream media when it was introduced in the U.S. market in 2000. The sales for Toyota Prius skyrocketed due to being one of the very first hybrid vehicles as well as its competitive pricing. However, the main change came more than a decade later, when Tesla introduced its first family car, Tesla Model S for the first time in 2012.
Tesla Model S became an instant hit among the audience due to its features. Model S was introduced with quite a lot of features that were either completely unheard of in the automotive industry or were still in pre-production stages. This all-new fully electric car grabbed the audience’s attention due to its futuristic looks and astonishing features.
Tesla Model S release.
It’s been 8 years since the Model S was released and the car doesn’t look aged a bit. There have been minor changes in the chassis and styling of the vehicle but the majority of the car is just the same as it was when it entered the market for the first time. The good news is that the audience doesn’t complain about it. The Model S is very simple yet very elegant at the same time. The minimalist interior from the Model S has inspired other manufacturers as well to keep the car quite minimalistic.
Model S comes with features loaded to the brim. Whenever you enter the vehicle, the 17-inch touch panel straight away grabs your attention. And without a doubt, the gigantic display controls the majority of the car’s features. From finding yourself a charging station or turning on your heated seats, everything is controlled by the only display in the Model S. The most interesting feature on the Tesla Model S is the autopilot mode. Autopilot mode in Tesla Model S is a very advanced driving assistant system that allows the car to operate without any or very minimal assistance from the driver. The autopilot feature also allows the car to be autonomously parked into very tight spaces with just a press of the button.
Tesla Model S pricing.
The Model S has the best legroom ever. You will face absolutely no problem while sitting in the vehicle. The ride is quite comfortable, and it better be when the vehicle costs around $80,000-$1,00,000. The Model S is also rated as one of the safest vehicles on the road. It received a 5-star safety rating in most of the crash tests done by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and other equivalent bodies.
There are quite a few battery options while customizing your own Tesla Model S. If you opt for the 100kWh battery, the company claims a driving range of 560-647 km in a single 100% charge. The performance model of the Tesla Model S can do 0-100 Kmph in just 2.3 seconds, defeating its competitors like the all-new Porsche Taycan Turbo S which costs almost double what the Tesla Model S costs.
2018 Tesla Model S P100D tests are as below.
The performance version of Tesla Model S managed to touch the 0-100 Kmph mark in a mere 2.3 seconds and recorded a top speed of 262 Kmph. These tests were done after the Cheetah Mode was activated. The Cheetah Mode makes the car to lean a little bit forward and shifting its weight towards the front of the car, exactly like the mighty cheetah before his flight.
The car looks absolutely stunning and very minimalistic from the outside as well. You always get over the air software updates whenever they’re available. As of now, Tesla has charging stations all across the U.S. and the U.K. and other countries as well. Tesla also offers you the option of getting a supercharger installed in your garage. Unfortunately, the home charger takes quite a lot of time in charging the car.
The experience of owning a Tesla is an amazing one. The brand has inspired other automobile manufacturers to roll out their versions of electric vehicles in the high-end spectrum as well as the majority spectrum. People are nowadays preferring electric vehicles over the regular ones. As of now, tesla holds the majority of the sales in the electric vehicle market and seems to remain the majority stakeholder for a long time to come.
